Another solid article from a great Tesla info resource – Electrek.
A new version of the Tesla in-dash software is imminent. Release is expected by October 1st 2018.
The new update will roll out to all Model S, X and 3 owners.
The new interface is very similar to the Model 3 user experience (UX) with the top “pull down” have gone replaced by bottom-of-screen icons.
Models with Autopilot 1 or 2 (AP1 / AP2) will see more details on the screen including graphics depicting position and types of vehicles nearby while in traffic.
The display is expected to vary based on the AP1 or AP2 version of hardware in the vehicle.
New features expected:
- Improved blind spot warning.
- Better self-driving capabilities including on-ramp navigation and lane changing.
- In dash camera display for forward-facing video.
- Atari games. Yes, you read that right. There is an in-dash Atari video game easter egg. We don’t recommend playing it while driving.
